ROLL ON/ ROLL OFF
For two years now, visual artist and video producer Marie Reinert has been artist in residence at Marfret. Her film Roll-on, Roll-off explores the vessel’s very entrails and peers into the depths and how this architectural creation acts on the crew members, dockers and the artist’s bodies.

BANKERS IN A GOOD MOOD
Ship owners’ banks certainly have reasons to be cheerful – or at least, those dealing with Marfret. Raymond Vidil met with the bankers in April and reassured them with a set of good ratios and a net positive result that is improving.

MUSSEL PIPE
No – Marfret have not decided to adapt their vessels to mussel–breeding! Though the shellfish have been curiously partial to the seawater transverse pipe on the Marfret Méjean which services the Maghreb line!

Marfret, which has always remained an independent family-owned company, has shown that success can be found away from the major maritime routes.
During 2009, while some of the mega carriers were badly affected by the economic downturn and had to go to the state for help, Marfret’s profits increased - though the company still felt the effects of the sharp decline in the shipping activity with a turnover down by 17.8% to 149.1 million Euros..read more

ENVIRONMENT : A "COOL GLOBE" FOR MARFRET
Marfret is committed to bringing together art, culture, climate considerations and the marine environment in 2010.
The company has acquired a globe, and Christophe Castellorizios has been given the honour of decorating it. Marfret’s participation in the “Cool Globe” public art initiative is a great way for Marfret to raise awareness of environmental concerns in Marseille. read more

ITALY-CARIBBEAN : MEDCAR IS SHELTERED FROM THE TURBULENCE OF THE ECONOMIC CRISIS
For the third year in a row, the trade volume between Italy and the Caribbean ports will be up in 2010. Covered by Marfret’s MedCar line, operated in partnership with CMA-CGM, the Italy-Caribbean trade is a niche market that is managing to shake off the global downturn.
Indeed, contrary to popular opinion, France does not have a monopoly on close, historical trading relations with Caribbean ports.
